The Making of 'Gingerbread House'

Needless to say, we have not been keeping our blog up to date very well recently... There are a number of things we still want to blog that happened a while back, but we just wanted to get this one out there even though it is much more recent. And since I had all the pics and vids on my phone, I get to be the one to post it...

Ayrial wanted to do something fun with a Christmas theme for the girls, so we decided to get some stuff to make a gingerbread house. We figured it would be much cheaper to get all the stuff separate than it would be to buy a packaged kit. So we got some graham crackers, cake frosting, licorice string, dots, life savers, and some other candy. Well it came out to be a little more expensive than the pre-packaged gingerbread house kit. So much for trying to be frugal, I guess... But that's okay, because they had all sorts of fun making this gingerbread house.

Ayrial had a lot of fun starting a sort of food fight with the girls. She kept smearing frosting on their faces and sticking candy on them...

Amora kept saying that she was going to be the "Gingerbread girl" and mommy was going to be the "Gingerbread mommy".

Lexy kept trying to eat the candy off the house before it was finished.

I contributed to the project by putting some half-eaten candy (okay... I was the culprit) on the top and also helping to eat the thing when it was all finished. Hey, that was the hardest part of all...

Pretty fancy! Looks like you guys had a blast. That's the fun part about not using the kit, you get to design your own. And the candy definitely tastes better!

Looks professional! We have yet to make one of those things. Maybe we'll attempt it this year.
