Piano Students

I'm so excited! I have a new piano student starting in June. That's 9 students! (including Amora) I'm hoping to get a ton more. If I can get around 15-20 students, i can quit my job. That's my goal. If any of you have some good advertising ideas, let me know.

Good job Ayrial! I have found the best advertising to be word of mouth. When your students love you and play well others ask them who their teacher is. Did you give your names to all the music stores? I've gotten a few students that way....the only problem is they are typically not the best students. I like getting students who have researched and interviewed me and have come to see me teach. They are the dedicated ones and they stick with it. I haven't ever done advertising besides those two things. Good luck! I need a few more students also just to make it....I don't want to teach any more, but we need the money. I have 18 students now not including my own 5 kids that I teach.......yikes! That sounds like a lot. No wonder our recitals seem long!

I thought of something else....join your local music club and get to know the other teachers. Tell them you are looking to get more students so if they are full ask if they will give out your name to potential students. In New Plymouth one of the teachers moved and passed all of her students on to me. That's when I had 40 students....insane!

Sorry about the double comment - I don't know how I did that! It must have been pretty important!

Good luck Ayrial. I have no advice, most of my students were from the ward when I taught, and they heard me play and decided I could teach. The picture on your blog looks a lot like Amora...except Amora's hair is shorter. Cute pic.

That's awesome, Ayrial! Good luck getting more students. That would be nice if you were able to quit your job. You and Brandon need to post more often!!!

I'm not sure how you would find it. When I moved here to Pokey I just started asking all the other teachers that I ran into. Not everyone is involved, but I'll tell you what....the teachers that are well known are. They get the better students and they have other teachers referring them. Good luck finding them! You do have to pay a fee to be involved, but then you are able to take part in their festivals and scholarship competitions. It's so good for the students to do those things. Find them!

I guess we should all teach piano lessons... make it some kind of family buiness. I'm feeling kind of left out! I wish you the best of luck at your recital and your teaching.

I know you don't know me, but I know Brandon from High School. Can you tell me how much you charge for lessons, I have 3 boys ages 6, 5 and 2. I don't think the 2 year old is ready, but the other ones are totally ready. Let me know. Thanks, Shannon Ipson

I charge $10 a lesson. We have one, 30min lesson per week. (More, or longer lessons if desired) We have two recitals per year, and I'm working on doing group lessons every other month. We might also do something fun for Christmas-time. I'm doing early lessons during the summer. I have several openings, so give me a call, I'd love to set up a meeting. home phone: 973-7286
